About Me

My name is Jonny and I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years! Having been fascinated by music from a very young age, I picked up the Trumpet at the age of 7. However a deep love of harmony (and equal frustration of not being able to play the chords that made it up) led me to take up the guitar a few years later and was obsessed ever since!
 

Throughout the rest of my schooling I would frequently spend hours a day figuring out songs by ear, working on material from my guitar teacher, and writing my own arrangements  of songs. This was accompanied by frequent gigging, and taking jobs in orchestra pits at for theatre productions. All this led me to reaching Grade 8 standard by the age of 16, followed by further studies at A level and University.

Since graduating I've had the immense privilege of teaching guitar to all ages and experience levels, from 6 year olds who've never picked up a guitar before, all the way up to experienced music university students preparing for their end of year recitals. I've also had the amazing opportunity to play at some of the largest venues in the U.K. (including the OVO Wembley Arena, and the Excel Centre in London!), and work as a session musician on various recording projects.

My experiences as a working musician has developed a teaching style which is immensely relatable to today's modern musical landscape. With the knowledge of the skills required to really work as a musician, and a passion for music and teaching, I seek to arm my students with the pathways, techniques, knowledge, and skills that it takes to reach their goals, whatever that may be!
